Life’s so funny…..

My official AC happens to be TDY so two senior BGOs are filling that role. They are awesome. They reach out to us at various points of the cycle to remind us of things that may need to be done.
I have responded to requests from parents to talk. Yes, as a BGO my primary focus is the candidate, but I’ve been a parent in this process and I want to be available to answer questions.
I encourage my candidates to do their due diligence and come to me with follow on questions. I’m not Google. I’m not a shortcut. I’m not Siri.
A candidate that doesn’t respond to my first two outreach communications? Doesn’t bode well.
BGOs and parents can’t want this more than the candidate does.
Are there some not great BGOs? Likely. And for those candidates I’m sorry. BGO interviews do count and do get read verbatim by the board. But if one cannot be done, it will never be held against the candidate and will be noted as a negative re the BGO.

Also, in a nod to @Capt MJ who has brought up Schrödinger’s cat more than once. Two things can be true simultaneously. There can be attentive, professional BGOs, and sadly, there can be some (hopefully few) who aren’t quite up to par.
