Hopeful USMA Class of 2028 : a place to play the waiting game together.

DS (SE region) received news of civil prep sponsorship from WP Admissions today….very excited & relieved to finally hear something.
Congrats! I just visited a prep and am happy to answer questions. Feel free to DM me if I’m if you’d like to connect. My DS will be attending MMI.

One more thing I wanted to add. Thank you to everyone here who has been praying for me and the other candidates. It's encouraging to see so many people going to the lord in prayer. Congrats to all the appointees, and I'm praying for everyone still waiting.

Nothing! DS is focused on getting through 8 AP tests right now, so he's not even thinking about it, fortunately.

Eight? Ouch. My DS only has four and that's bad enough. Good luck to him!
That's with 2 maths & 2 sciences too, including Calc BC & Physics. I know I couldn't have survived with that my Sr year. During swim season, he had practice before & after school. Then work. He wanted to prepare for academy life. Honestly, I don't think he could do more to improve his odds. Just the way the cookie crumbles in a competitive district.....

With a heavy heart, I must change my son's status to QNS. THY kingdom come. THY will be done. His ways our greater than ours.

@JTD posted in another thread that they got an appointment to the prep school. Looks like admissions is charging ahead at the pace of a lethargic snail.

Let me just say this because some of you may be too polite to vent like this.

As an outside observer, this is a really bad look for West Point and for the U.S. Army in general. For many families, this is their first exposure to the military. Literally, it's their first impression. How does any parent/guardian have any confidence that the Army can take care of their Love One when West Point Admissions can't take care of the most important processes done in a timely and proper fashion???

Some of these candidates busted their butts to get all their requirements completed (chasing down recommenders, performing the CFA multiple times, going through the DoDMERB gauntlet, going through a series of interviews, etc.) months ago if not half a year ago, and to be still waiting for a final decision is unconscionable!!!

The Appointment Process is NOT a new thing for West Point.

My goodness! It's almost mid-May, and there are likely dozens (if not dozens upon dozens) of candidates still on the bubble. That is horrible!!!

Well, they didn't forget after all. QNS just posted. DS won't be overly heartbroken though
I'm so sorry. You fought a good fight and have so much to be proud of. Your DS made it SO FAR.

Behind closed doors, I think I grieved more than my DS did. He's already set up an appointment with his FFR to discuss classes for next year and is planning to retake the SATs on 6/1. He's 100% set on re-applying to both USNA and USMA.

Today we celebrate his last day of school and cheer him on towards a PR at his track meet. We have much to be grateful for.
