Short answer: yes, yes and yes. Nearing the end of your prep year, you will have to reapply but I found it was way easier. I didn’t get a senator nomination when applying the first time (got VP one because of my dad), but I ended up getting one the second time. This may be because I was already “at” West Point, and I was a safer bet to give a nomination then someone straight from high school.Thank you so much. Also, I have so many questions... if you go to USMAPS, do you still have to go through the nomination process and apply again to USMA? Does USMAPS have a more flexible schedule on the weekends, or do you still need a pass to leave? Can you have a car while attending USMAPS? Thank you for any information you could offer!
I went to prep during 2021 (COVID years) so someone can answer better than me. However preparers have more time on the weekend compared to a regular cadet and can travel more.
Yes, you can have a car at prep. However, you will need a plan for it after the year is up because you cannot have it as a plebe. If you have any further questions, feel free to DM me (I just made this account so I’m not sure how everyone on here works but I’ll figure it out). My brother also went to prep last year (currently a plebe) so I’m sure we could answer 98% of your questions.
