Incoming plebe here-

Are there any suggestions for specific boots/low quarters for beast? (Price is not a concern) Also, is it common to actually go to the exchange or do most people just order them?

Thanks

Congrats and well done. Bates are the most common low-quarter. Boots are widely varied for preference. Online is your best bet. You will have time to return/exchange if need be.

Our son is currently a cadet. He got the boots form the local exchange and ordered the low quarters form the cadet store.

I got Garmont t8 NFS and BIFIDA. I'm deciding between the two.

I want to try on the BiFIDA before deciding which one to bring but I do like the NFS’s.
We did the same for my current plebe. He just kept both (the second pair we kept at home and brought to him after ADay) wore the NFS for Beast and the first part of the AY, but then switched to the BIFIDA once the NFS wore out. Having a little heavier boot in the winter at West Point is not a bad thing. Having a backup pair for the AY is also not a bad thing. If you join a club that does some ruccking (which is most) you will go through boots quickly. West Point is hard on gear with being constantly wet, rough terrain, etc. In our DS's experience, its 1-2 pair of boots per year. He is purchasing another pair of NFS for CFT/Air Assault. For low quarters, we purchased from the CStore using the form. They were quick turnaround. The brand he got from them were the Altama.

Rocky S2V Enhanced Jungle Puncture Resistant Boot for hot weather and Rocky S2V Predator Composite Toe 400g Insulated Boot for cold weather months.
PX troop stores have them but limited sizes. We order direct online at Rocky.
Significant discounts can be had as well at GovX, with membership.

I’ve tried almost every AR 670-1 compliant boot out there at the PX/US Patriot Tactical stores, from Oakleys to Under Armors to Garmonts, including the NFS and Bifidas. It definitely depends on the person and their preferences, but I’ve found that the Garmont Falcons are the best for ankle support and breathability. The Garmont website says that it’s a combination of lightness and stability, which I’ve found to be very true.

Thank you so much for all this advice! To confirm, the Garmont T8 Falcons are acceptable as well?

current plebe - as far as boots go, I used the Garmont T8 NFS, and they held up very well, were very comfortable and gave good stability. Would reccomend 10/10. I wear the Oakley's right now during the AY and do all my rucking and military training in them and like them even more, but there isn't as much stability as the Garmonts.

Just wondering if anyone has any advice on where to order low quarters? Is it best to call the WP exchange store or is another way better?

Current Plebe, I did the March back in my Rocky SV2s and the bottom of my foot almost came off. They didn't fit well. I just completed the 12mile AASLT Ruck in the Oakley LA2s and my feet came out unscathed, no blisters or discomfort. Highly recommend

Have had Garmont T8 Bifadas for boots since summer 2021 and they're still going great. Just had a thought... make sure you (any incoming cadets here) actually have a shoe shining kit for your low quarters for beast... but don't shine your shoes beforehand, you'll have plenty of time during beast.
