My gpa is not high enough currently to most likely get accepted (3.3). If i get straight a's senior year to boost my gpa will naval academy let me submit that to boost my gpa or not

It’s a LOT more than GPA. Its strength of school. Classes taken. Class rank. Etc. There is also the whole rest of the application, beyond academics. It’s a whole person look.

No one knows how this will play out for you. But you miss 100 pct of the shots you don’t take. You may be offered a direct high school entry, or a NAPS/foundation spot.

Go for it!

Also, as I tell my students, a strong set of SAT (or ACT) scores will cover a big portion of this 'deficit.' I agree with @justdoit19 that the SAs care for more than your GPA. Use your interviews and essay to explain some of the 'reasons' behind your lower scores as a freshman/sophomore/etc. Give them plenty of other reasons to give you an appointment!

It is a simple Math equation. You will really just have one more semester to raise your gpa and a 4.0 in that one semester will not change the overall much. As others have said, you need to focus on the testing as a higher score replaces the lower one and has a greater impact. While academics are the highest component of the score, you still need a strong showing in the leadership/extracurricular activities as well as the CFA.

Poster may be a Junior?

OP, if you are someone they are interested in for various reasons on the rest of your application, they may request senior year transcripts after the first semester to see how you are doing. Also, if you are a candidate they are looking for, they may elect for a NAPS slot to see how and if you improve academically.

They sent me to NAPS with a 3.3 GPA (and a D in Prob. and Stat, no pre-Calc or Calc). Granted, 30 years ago, and with already being an enlisted soldier (was in the Army when I got my NAPS offer).

Thanks so much! this is what i have been doing. going for a 35 ish on act thanks!

If my math in my head is right, a 4.0 first semester senior year will bring you up to 3.4. Not much difference. But if that is unweighted, and you get a 35 on ACT - with a strong package outside GPA/ACT - you would be competitive. Especially if your school profile is good.

But it’s a competition. Obviously a less competitive slate would be better for you.

Control what you can. Absolutely nail the tests and classes you can. Practice and prepare for interviews. Be you. The only you that you can be when you write statements and essays.

For the most part, the rest is somewhat of a roll of the dice. No one knows the competition of your slate each year. And it does change. Stats aren’t everything. They are looking for the whole candidate.

Many of the things that go into assessing the whole candidate are intangibles that statistic majors don’t love.

Interviews. Personal statements, teacher evals, BGO (or other SA rep counterpart interviews), things mom and dad and candidate can’t see. They play a part in the overall decision.

My overall take is that the end game is not 1200 35 ACT candidates. But that they are working on 1200 shipmates that have had life and school and athletic experiences that show that they are at their core, leaders. And are willing to become fine tuned and trained junior officers.
