Does anyone know if there is a waiver for self harm incidents for the United States Naval Academy. It so I would love to hear about the process of obtaining one.

Check this thread out. Take care of yourself.

First, go to the DoDMERB home page and read every item in the left-side menu, including Contacts. Process, FAQs, etc. You don’t need a login for this.

You will discover that you must go through the process. DoDMERB is the entity which evaluates your medical history and finds you either meet the military accession standard or not (Q/DQ). If it is DQ, then USNA decides whether to initiate a waiver process for you with the waiver authority for USNA.

Some waivers are frequently granted. Some are occasionally granted. Some are granted subject to a cap (such as color vision deficiency). Some are seldom or very rarely waivered. Everyone goes through the process, and there is no telling what the final outcome is. Your case will be evaluated on its individual facts, and the standard, precedents and current policy will come into play.

Military members operate in harsh, unforgiving operating environments, often far from advanced medical care, often under extreme stress, and in the Navy, often thousands of miles from home and land. The military sets the medical accession bar high, so it can bring in the healthiest people with the least vulnerability to injury or illness, as part of the focus on unit safety and readiness.

Always tend your alternate plans as a common sense strategy.
