So I had a quick question about the vice-presidential nomination and I wondered if anyone knew a bit about it. I am living in Canada currently, but I am an American citizen, is there any way I can use my parent's past residency as a location to apply for a congressional nomination, or does it have to be my current residency to do that? Also assuming I can only apply for a vice-presidential nomination, to make sure I get the slot since it would be my only shot at a nomination, when should I submit my application, and what stuff can I write down that would make me stand out, etc. If anyone reading this has gotten this nomination, please also let me know what you think helped you get selected. Thank you!

This topic has already come up in two threads this year; you may want to search for those threads. You should be able to apply for noms based on where your parents last lived in the U.S., and claim that.

Comb this site below. It establishes your voting rights when you are of age, but also establishes your domicile rights.

Then, go to the website of that District, look for the SA nominations section, and if you have questions, contact the staffers who manage the function.

There is only a tiny handful of VP noms. It is generally thought the SAs, who manage them with no involvement from VP staff, hang onto these until late in the cycle, using them for candidates they really like but who have not been successful in getting noms from other sources.

The general guidance is “Put the best-quality application together and submit it as early as possible.”
