Medical DQ and Rejection Questions - USMA

I just received my medical DQ and what I’m pretty sure is a rejection letter from WestPoint.
I will attach an image of the letter.

I had high hopes of going, and had received two nominations (one senatorial, one congressional) but had about 3-4 medical disqualifications. I passed the CFA exams with above avg scores.

I’m not sure what steps I should take next. Should I re-apply next year? Email the regional commander about USMAPS (not sure how I apply to the program) ?

Unfortunately, I have yet to apply to ROTC programs. I have applied and was accepted into a few normal colleges like San Diego State and Boston University that has ROTC programs I believe, but I’m not sure how pertinent that is to my situation.
Please advise!
Thanks

I am so sorry to read this. So, the school you will attend next year, go ahead and reach out to the ROO for the Army ROTC department and let him or her know that you are planning to enroll and that you do not have a scholarship right now. If you are an excellent candidate, they may find a scholarship for you before school starts or even during the first semester. Having a scholarship or participating in Army ROTC will not prevent you from applying to West Point next year.
Best wishes with your re-application.
You might also reach out to @MullenLE about your particular items that we not granted a waiver in a timely manner. He might be able to advise you on how to better prepare for a re-application.

My understanding of the medical waiver process at USMA is that it begins with a waiver request by admissions, then goes to doctors for a recommended “grant” or “don’t grant” decision. If the waiver is recommended for “grant” then it goes before a committee at the Academy for final review. The Academy committee is the final step in the process but a waiver might not be requested initially (depending on timeline or condition) or derailed at any point (such as doctor’s recommendation to “not grant”.)

If planning to to reapply it might be helpful to understand where in the process (if you can find out) where your waiver was derailed. If the doctors recommended a “not grant”, is this a medical condition that might improve with time or can you obtain treatment or other evaluation that might assist you next time around? Just to be considered and make it this far in the process shows that you are a unique individual with talents and leadership that should allow you to persevere through to your eventual goals. Good luck with your next steps!

It's unclear as I'm not sure if they already communicated that they had requested a waiver on your behalf but the letter alone appears to communicate that your medical DQ stands and a waiver was not considered. If that is correct and if USMA is like the other academies, then your application was not considered competitive enough to warrant review for a waiver.

If that is the case ROTC would be an excellent option for improving your application and you could certainly re-apply next year. When DQ'd it's a two step process to continue moving forward...first admissions needs to request the waiver review so you'll need to improve your application, then when requested, you'll need to successfully have you waiver granted.

If you were reviewed for a waiver, then it's all about medical. If you posted in the DODMERB forum, Mr. Mullen may be able to provide some guidance. Either way - you have acceptances to a couple great schools - good luck!

You may wish to reach out to your Regional Commander as suggested in the letter. They can provide more insight and if you are considering reapplication, can suggest ways to improve your application. Good luck to you!
