Hello all, I'm interested in USMA. I have some questions about the mathematics curriculum. For context, I took Multivariable Calculus and Ordinary Differential Equations.

1. Would it be possible to place out of MA153 (differential equations) and/or MA255 (multi-variable calculus)?
2. Has anyone else attempted placing out of these courses before?
3. If the answer to question 2 is the affirmative, were they happy with their decision or did they regret it.

Thank you all for your help and God Bless.

1. Yes
2. Yes
3. Yes; frees up options to have a minor

USMA will look at placement tests and your college transcripts and make a determination. It is very possible to place out of quite a few plebe and yuk classes based on what you have already taken. This does not mean you will take fewer classes, just that you can take more elective classes.

It appears you will be in good 'shape' with any of the decisions you make for your math courses. I would emphasize preparing in all three areas for USMA: academics, athletics and activities (leadership). How are you fairing in those areas and are you making plans to expand your résumé? Good luck with all of your planning and preparations for USMA.

My athletics and activities are going well, thank you. I'm just happy to put my mind to good use at the academy. Thank you.
