Hey!
I am looking to expected to start the dodmerb process soon. I have been out of high school for four years now. While in high school, I had a IEP that gave me extra time on exams. My first couple semesters in college wasn’t the best, I just withdrawal from 9 classes. However, the last three semesters I have gotten either a 3.0 or 4.0 GPA for the semester. I currently have a 3.0 overall semester but my transfer gpa is 2.94. However that will be a 3.02. I haven’t used the IEP since high school and I never really used the accommodations. I haven’t used any accommodations in college. Since it has been 4 years since I’ve had the IEP, will I still get DQ? Will my first couple semesters affect if I have to request a waiver? I am looking for any advice that can be given! I am stressing out and worrying about this.

Since I found out that IEPS were a DQ, I have mentioned it to stakeholders in ever ARC since.

Hello @td2024 have you checked out the admission requirements?

Hey! Thank you for sharing but I’m actually doing army ROTC. Do you have Amy information regarding that?

Thanks!

Well my link did you no good. I thought I saw a post from you on the USNA forum. Good luck.

I think it was someone posting regrading an IEP as well and I was looking for more details as well. Do you have any information Army ROTC and IEPs?

Wouldn’t 4 yrs out of high school put you past the application age requirement?

Hey! I am doing army rotc. The age limit is I believe 37, however I am only in my early 20’s lol.

Just my personal thoughts, but if you are currently in your second semester junior year, it may be difficult to join ANY ROTC program. The ROTC programs are structured to give you four years of military training prior to Commissioning. If you entering your senior year, you may not be eligible for ROTC, unless you agree to complete your Masters while in ROTC to get the four or min of three years of training.

You don't say what your major is, but if you are not an engineering major, having 9 withdraws (I assume because of failing grades) is not going to look good to a prospective ROTC PMS.

You almost may be better off graduating, then going for OCS or Direct Commission. JMPO. ;)

Good morning,
I’ve spoke with the individual over enrollment and recruitment and the only requirement was a 2.5 GPA, passing the fitness test, and being medical qualified. He is well aware of the IEP and what is was used for. However I will definitely make him aware of how my first few semesters wasn’t the best. I believe that being transparent is key with this situation. Also my first semester as a junior doesn’t start until the fall.

Thanks!

OK, sorry guess I misunderstood your initial post where it sounded like you were already a Junior (out of HS for 4 years), and next semester would be your senior year (with the drops). Good Luck, and you are right, IF you get accepted as a first semester junior, you can either get the two year scholarship, or do College Programmer (no scholarship). The only real difference is ADSO, with the scholarship it is five years I believe and without it is three. Army ROTC also offers a "Reserve" Commission, where you go into the active reserves and have a commitment of six years.

Not sure about the time frames, my one son looked at Army ROTC five years ago, but got accepted to West Point. He was going to go Reserve, then attend Law School upon Commissioning and serve in the JAG Corps. His University that he wanted had a Law School attached so it would have been a direct slotting (if his grades were good enough and LSAT score was there).
