DQed for Keratoconus, Waiver submitted

To anyone, who is diagnosed KCN looking into rated, I am here to say there is a wavier for it as I was notified yesterday that my wavier has been cleared and not just cleared for commissioning but medically cleared for pilot, reassigning me my pilot slot and all. The best advice I can give is not to give up as it took 6 months of waiting after doing the CXL surgery to be approved and in the end, it all worked out now I plan to head to Vance AFB by the end of this month!

Could you clarify if you went through the DODMERB waiver process for ROTC or a service academy? If SA, which one?

I was wondering were you diagnosed with mild, moderate or severe keratoconus?

Thanks! My son never knew until he went for his eye exam for commissioning. He was told by two ophthalmologists that he had such a mild case, they were surprised that military caught it.

My son was recently disqualified for suspected keratoconus in one eye. I sought a 2nd opinion and that my doctor did confirm the eye disease. Trying to figure out our options at this point. He is a candidate for the cross-linking procedure but I don’t want the surgery to be an automatic disqualification. Does anyone know if waivers have been provided in the past for keratoconus and if cross-linking procedure was required for approval? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

His vision is currently 20/15 in right eye and 20/25 in left eye (with KC)
Did he get the waiver?

Looking for advice. Son was diagnosed with KC during his testing for commissioning back in November. It was a mild case and had CXL done right away. 3-4 month check up showed it is stable. He talked to flight surgeon who diagnosed him and told him he needs to wait at least 6 month and that both eyes need to be corrected to 20/20 with glasses (he's 20/20 and 20/25) even before submitting anything to NAMI. He was told "the odds of a waiver being granted are extremely negligible, so you should be making alternate plans now and be prepared for a no response when we eventually submit to NAMI." He's wondering if he should continue to fight for his NFO selection or commission as general commission.

Would love to pick your brain. I have responded to your DM. Wondering when your DS had the CXL. Did he wait the 6 months post-op before the waiver could be submitted? And lastly, how long from submitting waiver until waiver was given? Thanks!
