We would like to visit USAFA sometime in the summer. Do they offer any campus tour? Do we need to make an appointment? Any suggestions and thoughts would be appreciated.

Here is a section from the Class of 2029 Instructions to Pre-candidate:

"The Admissions Office offers two types of recurring events: “Discover USAFA” and “Explore USAFA”. Discover USAFA includes our admissions briefing, question & answer session, and a guided walking tour of the immediate cadet area. Explore USAFA includes our admission briefing and a question & answer session. Afterwards, our guests can explore the campus on a limited self-guided tour. This tour does not include access to the secured cadet area."
"Admissions events are held in the Barry Goldwater Visitor Center unless otherwise noted. They are normally held on Mondays and Fridays at 9 am and 2 pm MST with some exceptions. Virtual events are offered online and will continue to be an option for those who cannot visit. For registration and a full list of dates and times for our admissions events, please visit https://www.academyadmissions.com/meet/admissions-events/ ."

I encourage all of my students that are interested in USAFA to visit the campus. One good way to see the school "up-close" is by attending one of the USAFA summer sports camps. Many of my students have participated in them across all of the SAs. Students stay in the dorms, eat in the mess hall, meet cadets and staff, and they also work with the coaching staff.

very helpful. Thank you!

It is very important to do an official tour at the Air Force Academy because the cadet area is closed off to the public. It is all gated and you cannot simply walk around like you can at the other Academies. You will be able to see the athletic facilities and fields… however the academic buildings, dorms, etc. are all behind black gates and you have to have an USAFA access badge. (Simply having a military ID will NOT give you access.)
