Waitlisted - advice?!

Our DS has been waitlisted. Any advice?

The thread at Acceptance Final Date seems to indicate the acceptance cutoff date is 01 May. I would perhaps touch base with the nominating authority and keep him/her appraised of the status.

If you are wait listed, keep your plan B ready, but stay hopeful. There are always appointments in May.

My Plebe yr roommate got his letter of appointment the day before he was to leave for Navy Bootcamp in late June so don't give up hope.

Our son will most likely be following his NROTC path and declining his USMMA appointment. He'll decide for sure by Monday afternoon when we return from one last college visit. We are from PA-04 for what that's worth. Fingers crossed for you.

I imagine a lot of declinations will start soon. Be positive and wait it out! Hopefully you’re in a state that takes more than 5 people!

Once the state minimums are filled per statutory requirements, all other qualified candidates are placed into a national pool from which additional candidates (including wait list candidates) are selected. Good luck.

Hope not. Could be giving up a good payday. That marine license is worth its weight in gold. IMO its worth more than the diploma they give you especially a 3rd engineers license. Even if you decide you don't like sailing you could come ashore and work at a powerplant or as a test and trials engineer at a shipyard. Alot of powerplants will hire you on the spot with that marine license. Lotsa my NA buddies sent their kids to KP and many say the same. "Man if I only knew back then.". Either way shipmate, goodluck to his future.
