USAFA Waiting Page C/O 2028

My son applied to the AFA, 2028 class, and is fully qualified. We live in Colorado Springs and waiting to hear like some/most on this thread. This thread has been very helpful, and I wish everyone who hasn't received an appointment the very best.

I spoke with one of the ALO's this morning and he explained, like I think most of you know, that the AFA reviews in groupings and that April is a big month for announcements. Decisions/appointments can even go into May. This information was also confirmed by someone else who knows this process well. The ALO was able to check on my son's status and he is qualified waiting for committee review. So, at this point, according to the ALO, it is highly likely that he hasn't even been reviewed by the committee yet.

Waiting is hard but, as I've told my son, no news is still good news. I hope this information is helpful and I'll post his status one way or another once we hear from the AFA.
Thank you for this message. It gets hard sometimes as I frequently feel alone in this process as I have not received word yet either. It gives me and I’m sure a lot of other people too, hope for a future at the Air Force academy considering that they are still reviewing candidates. I wish your DS the best of luck in his endeavors.

That’s amazing congratulations!!! What district if it’s ok to ask?
VA-11, but I didn't get a nomination from my congressmen. I sent his office everything they asked for but I was never invited for an interview. So if you're from VA-11 and have a Congressional nomination, then I'm not competition for you.

VA-11 as well, but DD got senator noms, so she wouldn’t be competition on Connolly’s slate either.

Am I able to ask when your son submitted his application? Did he submit it more towards the January 31st deadline?

I’m VA-10 but Congratulations that’s amazing!! I only received Congressman and Disabled Veterans Nom👍🏼

My son's application was complete around the 10th of January. He didn't receive his nomination until late January. So, essentially, his application wasn't complete until the end of January.

If I understand well: each MOC can have 5 cadets at the academy at any one time, and that they can nominate up to 10 to fill any vacancy. How can you find out how may cadets are currently attending from a specific district?

I thought it was 5 cadets per year.

Has anyone been notified of admissions this week? My daughter has been waiting and it’s so nerve wrecking. In November she received a LOE. She received a MOC nomination late January and USAFA gave her a nomination because her father is a 100% disabled USAF veteran. She is in the top 10% of her class at an extremely competitive school, 4.68 unweighted GPA, scored a 1470 on her SAT and 34 on her ACT. She has a lot of community service and also in sports (gold national medalist). She completed her DODMERB and CFA on time. All green check marks in her portal. Is there anything more she could have done to help increase her chances? Should she be updating her portal with new awards and medals in submitting her application?

Doesn’t hurt to email admissions, but when I emailed them (team blue) a couple weeks ago they said that the application was already sent to review committee so took it as that additional info wouldn’t be reviewed. Again, doesn’t hurt to send it though. There are a lot more factors than just hard stats. Extracurriculars depends on how you wrote it up regarding the leadership and impact aspects of it, so it’s hard to tell from just a list of things. But to answer your question regarding if there was anything else to do, as far as I can see, the academic stats are well above average for people that have gotten in, but then again there is so much more than that. It’s really hard to chance applicants in general.

Thank you so much for your reply. I do appreciate it. It is interesting that you said she should email team blue but according to her emails, she is supposed to contact team silver. Is there a difference?

I failed to mention that she did attend Summer Seminar and does have extracurriculars as well. She was in a sport all 4 years of HS of which 3 years were on the Varsity team. She has been apart of PALS for 2 years (Program at school which focuses on working with elementary, middle, and high school age youth), NHS for 3 years, worked part time Junior/Senior year and also has several current certifications of which one is a first responder certification so that she can be apart of our local area emergency response team. The waiting has been hard and we are losing hope. Not sure if we should start looking at plan b and getting everything in order for that.

In 2022 for the Class of 2026 I know there was a large wave of admissions decisions that were released on April 18. I also know that feels like forever away sitting at April 2, but I would suspect they are getting close to releasing another big wave soon. Hang in there if you are still waiting! It is brutal and the anxiety of not knowing is so real, but try to enjoy the last weeks of your senior year.

This is very reassuring. Thank you so much. It has been a very stressful time. So the wait continues… 😅

Do you by chance know why some have a blue team contact and others have a silver team contact?
