Im interested in Sandhurst and was wondering about the pros and cons of doing Black/Gold or Company. Also wondering if anyone knows the specific tryouts requirements for Black/Gold.

Black/Gold is very competitive. The team will consume a very large part of your limited freetime. Especially as you get closer to the competitions. My DS was on his company's team and loved it. We have a good friend who's DS is on Black/Gold, and isn't as fond of it. He said it can be a toxically competitive environment. My DS's team did not progress on past the qualifier, and they were a lot more casual about it which probably made it more fun. He is hoping next year his company team will be able to qualify for the main event. I cant give you specifics on what the tryouts entailed, but it is very competitive, and rigorous. Which to be honest, is the case for a lot of clubs and teams. I have heard that Combat Weapon's Team tryouts were on par, and some said harder then Sandhurst Black/Gold.

Sandhurst is basically a grit-fest. Black/Gold takes this to heart, so it is intensely physically and mentally demanding both for tryouts and does not get easier once someone makes it on the team. Hearing from current and former black/gold members, company sandhurst feels more like a family, while black and gold is more cutthroat and competitive. Most people enjoy company sandhurst much more.
