Replying to this thread everyday until an appointment/rejection

I love the persistence and so does the Academy. My DS was TD on his first application. That weekend was awful. That Friday he got turndown 1 from the USNA. On Saturday he got a turndown for a scholarship for ERAU. Then on Sunday, his GF dumped him. My old ARMY dog fatherly advice about the break up was "get your prom ticket back. Tango Sierra on the other 2. Try again." I suggested he call the academy and ask what he can add to his packet to better his chances for a second app. He attended ERAU for this past year, Joined AFROTC, as a stop gap an reapplied. He/we went through the process, and this time he received a the golden ticket.

If your son gets a second turndown, Keep applying. I have a nephew that got 2 TD's from the USAFA, the second came with an opportunity to go to a prep-school. during covid so it was online. Third app, he is in. Persistence pays. Good Luck
Good morning day 61, 16 more days to go! Thank you so much for this story and all the other similar stories. It makes the waiting mentally easier and helps me as a parent be able to help my DS if the TWE comes. Being able to explain to him that so many before him were in similar situations and were able to reach their dream with persistence (it can be done), helps me be that support he would need. I am constantly referencing these conversations and stories when talking with my family now about this long wait and what to do after. Hopefully, that is a conversation that no one on this forum will need to have this year ( 🤞 those remaining get BFE). Again, thank you all, your support of each other means so much ❤️

Think positively for those who are still pending while the application is near the end. You are too good for SAs to give you up --and if you would like to apply for next cycle -- you will be too good Not to pick you early !

The nature of rolling admission ! Longer pending means less likely ! DS has been pending since Dec 5, 2023! So he has given up this path and believes USNA is trying to make him feel better to have him rejected the last day of the cycle.

The best advise he got is from his role module, a retire navy caption (USNA class 1990),

"Remember it is not about you, not about the school, it is about serving your country and the school is the best place to learn to serve your country."
Persistence pays. IF he gets a TD, reapply

Proof it does happen. Congratulations to your DS! Patience, pesistence, pays off. It's a test as most things in life are. Our middle Son asked me years ago, "Dad is being an adult really as tough as you adults make it?". Of course the answer is not, but in life you will be challenged. Every mighty oak started out as a little nut, but somehow found a way. Good luck to your Kiddo! Inspirational for others.

Well, DS is not going to reapply he will join the army instead. As a navy captain said, it is about serving his country.

Another way of thinking positively, he will be promote to a captain (O3) in 5 years after West Point while it would take around 20 years to become a navy captain (O6) after USNA -:)
I just saw your DS on the self-appointment list for WP. OUTSATNDING! In the end, it is about serving. Good luck to your DS!

Shiny is there! Definitely a solid maybe!!

Exactly, radio silence seems to be how the SAs operate. Candidates need to realize this.

Thank you!

Also, please don't wish another plot twist on me!! I don't think I can handle it 😆
It's like the old days, when I went to college, you never heard ANYTHING until the TWE or BFE! No portals, no calls to admissions, barely any way to look at statistics to see if there was an academic chance!

MY DS pending since December as well. I wonder why they don't just reject you, why keep people pending for so long...

It is possible they may want to keep some (your DS and mine) for possible vacancy --even it is a slim chance for us but it is important for them to have some backup

In each of these methods, one fully qualified nominee is offered an appointment to the Naval Academy to fill the vacancy. The remaining fully qualified nominees also are considered carefully, and many are selected for admissions to fill the entering class from a national competition of qualified alternates.

We have waited almost 4 months --- so just two weeks we will be done.
