Replying to this thread everyday until an appointment/rejection

She got the USAFAP offer and picked that over the other two. Full ride to A&M too between NROTC and the Patriot scholarship...scary to walk away from that but she felt that she'd regret not going to an SA. I think prep and AF are a huge blessing, so I'll be curious to see how it all pans out if she gets something from USNA. She hadn't visited USMMA and was concerned with the academic rigor based on some of the info she read here.
I can see her reasoning. My son is ready to take USNA prep over USMMA. No full ride at TAMU but it is 3 hours away from us. It is a waiting game now. Best of luck to our kids. May they land where they are supposed to.

What a sad day for my DS and our family. Back to back TD from USAFA and after less than 2 hours TD from USNA. Still pending from USMA but now I think if you are not appointed before April 15, chances are you’ll be waitlisted or turned down especially if you are not PNom.

DS kinda ok with it and will schedule to retake SAT (its 1400 currently) by June and will reapply to USNA. DS plan B is engineering in SMC with ROTC.

Good luck to all who are still pending and waitlisted.

Aw... so sorry for you guys. Tough break for all especially DS. That chapter is on hold, sometimes it's good to put the book down to clear ones head. Next year, we'll be looking for you guys. All the best, good luck.

I can imagine what your family is feeling right now. We felt the sting when USAFA turned him down. I think we, as parents, take the rejections harder than our kids. Our DS just shrugged and moved on. But we felt the hurt for a few days for sure. But this too shall pass. Your DS will end up where he is supposed to and he will do great where he decides to go. Good wishes and vibes your way.

Thank you so much. I guess we were somehow prepared for the impact with USNA as we’ve seen the purge few days back for USNA. We just didnt expect USAFA will send the TD on the same day. Its like getting punched on both cheeks Manny Pacquiao style 😂.

Anyway, DS just shrugged it off and told me now he can focus on Plan B as it became Plan A now. He can now tell everyone where he is going to study this coming Fall. He just want to focus on becoming the best NROTC cadet and Engineering student. Keeping options open on reapplying to USNA or who knows he might enjoy NROTC and never look back.

This has been a tough week for many of you. Some are still in limbo 77+3 days in. For those TD'd, it's tough, not the outcome you had hoped for. Take some time, clear your mind, refresh your soul and look to a new horizon, it's out there. The journey never ends, just full of twists, unexpected turns, hills and valleys, hardships and immeasurable joy. One day years down the road, you'll look back on this, hopefully from the high ground and smile because of where you've been, who you've met and what you've created. Who knows, you may have inspired others to apply, or re-apply just because you were here. Thank you all, you've enriched my life with your tenacity and inspiration. CARRY ON! DON'T QUIT! Keep moving forward.

Oh noooo! I’m so sorry to hear this! That is a double blow for sure!! Glad your DS is ok .. I keep showing my DS the bios people post of their superstar kids who also got rejected and he’s says “how’d I even make it to April 15th next to these guys (/girls)??” Love your DSs plan B - he will have an amazing future!

I've been doing this too! The candidates on this forum are so incredibly accomplished!

It’s been really nice to be here. It’s very rare that anyone in our rural area school applies to an SA much less gets a nomination etc. So to say we were alone as parents in this process, we were alone. This group has been such a great resource of information and support!

I discovered the Forums last when we went through this. DS's Mom asked me why I didn't just become a member. I realized then "you don't know enough to know what you don't know". This process is grueling, daunting and overwhelming. I didn't want to become a member because I really had nothing to offer, much less anything to say. So many knoledgeable people and a wealth of information if you know where to find the answers. I've watched parents and kids go through what we did last year. It's tough, but there is hope. This group has been such a great support network for those navigating uncharted waters. Good luck to you and yours. Thanks for ridin' with us. None of us travels the world alone, we're all connected through space and time.

I'm so sorry. Hopefully at least there's been some closure and he can pivot, proceed and achieve.

As another mom, I have valued having you on the forum. You have asked questions and shared some of the same concerns I have had allowing me to benefit from some of the same advice. Thank you! Good luck to your DS.

Same here. We live in the suburbs (son's graduating class is 2000 strong) and still none of our friends had heard or know anything about SAs. Wish we had found this forum earlier.

Thank you so much for your kind words. Its comforting to know that there’s a lot of folks who can understand what we are going through and cheering my DS on his way forward. Definitely, TD is a redirection. My DS and I started this journey with 0 knowledge to somehow gaining expertise on many angles of this complex application process. My DS has been giving information and guidance to juniors in his high school and documenting his journey for his counsellors to share to the kids next in line and so am I with my friends who have high school kids. To spill more beans, my DS is in boarding school and I’m > 8,000 miles away from him due to work so we are dealing with this and comforting each other remotely. To say that SAF is our toolkit and community is an understatement. Eventhough this is an anonymous forum, most have been kind and helpful.
