So, a little bit of context about my situation. Last year, one of my JROTC instructors retired. With uncertainty with the future of the unit regarding my USNA application, we made the decision to submit my ROTC Nom application packet early. Once it was received by USNA in August, which was way before submission opened, my portal updated with a ROTC nom dated for August 2nd.

This is a little concerning for me, given a very close friend of mine also applied for this nom and also received the same nom with our local congressman. I don’t know how many appointees this congressman already has at USNA, and from what I’ve read, this could rule either one of us out of an appointment. Neither of us have heard back from USNA yet.

How/when will I receive word of I have *actually* received the ROTC nom?

You have ACTUALLY received the nomination. You've been NOMINATED by two NOMINATORS.
Not everyone who gets nominated gets an appointment. What you should be seeking is an APPOINTMENT and you should know within the next 5 or so weeks. More than just one person from your congressional district can get appointed with a nom from CA-48. As long as they are otherwise qualified AT LEAST ONE nominated by CA-48 district will get appointed but that is not a maximum.

If you get appointed, you might never know and probably won't ever know if you were actually charged to JROTC or CA-48. There is no
reason that you'd need to know.

Thank you for clearing that up for me. My congressman unfortunately doesn’t provide a lot of information regarding his nomination or the nomination process in general, so hearing that both my friend and I have a shot of getting in is awesome!
