Sorry about that, I am glad you got that ROTC scholarship. Would you reapply next year? Also, did you just happen to check the portal and find the turndown, or did you get an official correspondence in your email?

Thank you, he will definitely reapply in the fall. We just checked the portal, there wasn't an email beforehand stating to check it. So in the portal there was an "admissions decision update" letter and the letter just stated hey was fully qualified but that there just isn't a spot this year for him.

I'm convinced that until you've gone through it, you have no idea how grueling the process is. Just getting to this point is an accomplishment and I have no doubt he has experienced personal growth because of it. Maybe I'm just projecting my feelings about my son onto yours, but I'm convinced that anybody who makes it this far is one heck of a kid and has an amazing future ahead of himself. I hope he kills it this year at Auburn and you're back here a year from how sharing the good news of his appointment.

Awe you made me tear up, thank you. I agree with all of what you said, and this is a HUGE accomplishment in my mind for sure, and I am so proud of anyone honestly wanting to serve our country in any capacity. Auburn has a wonderful ROTC and is overall a happy/vibrant campus and I am so excited for him to be there..if even just a year lol. Hopefully if he decides to do this again in the fall it will be easier, but as of right now I feel relief just having an answer.

As much as we want to help our kids achieve their dreams, aren't you glad that we're not ultimately in control of this? We were surprised when our son wanted to pursue this route and, honestly, had some mixed feelings. I did find peace in my faith though. If it was God's will, then this would happen. THY kingdom come. THY will be done. As hard of a pill as it is to swallow today, I pray your son finds his calling through VMI. There's no doubt they're lucky to have him as part of their program.
