Everything is complete and approved except for the nomination. Is this the end?

I apologize ahead of time if the questions about the nomination have been discussed many times over. But I will greatly appreciate all the information that anyone is willing to share. My DS is being recruited as an athlete. All documents completed except for the nomination. My DS has been notified that his request is not moving forward. What can we do from here? Thank you!

Are you saying your DS didn’t receive a nomination at all? If so, there would be no appointment guaranteed, although your DS could potentially still be in the running for Preparatory schools at the SA’s campus or a sponsorship. These are automatically applied to your file, so don’t worry about “applying” to those.

That is good to know. It might not be what my DS wishes but it still positive outlook. Thank you.

WDYM by this? Notified by whom? A nomination source? The SA? A Coach? What request?

Did he receive an ‘I’m sorry but we are unable to offer you an appointment….’ letter? Was his application closed by the SA?

Additional clarification of what has happened would be helpful. There are other paths forward towards a commissioning (ie an ROTC route, and then reapplying - a large part of each class build are reapplicants).

It’s not an actual ‘end of the road’ until notified by the academy that it is. It’s not clear from your post of this is the case, or not.

^^ I agree, the phrase 'not moving forward' requires more context for us to comment. Being a recruited athlete is not a guarantee of being offered an appointment, many older threads on that topic. EVERY candidate is advised to apply for ALL NOM's for which there are eligible. A MOC NOM is NOT the only source of a NOM.

If you get a TWE from the SA, then you are no longer in the running for an appointment this year.

According to my DS, he did receive a notification from the Congressman or council that his NOM request is not moving forward. I appreciate everyone's input. At this time we will re-evaluate and go from there. thank you!

There are various sources of NOM's. The fact someone did not get an MOC NOM, does NOT automatically mean that is the end of the road.

Thank you for information and your time. In fact my child did end up getting a nom (from our district) and received an admission and accepted. I really appreciate this forum! Cheering all the candidates that they will hear something very soon!

The initial Congressman that declined the NOM earlier in the process send a 2nd email that the NOM is now moving forward. It's all good now. Thank you. Is your candidate still waiting or has accepted an appointment?

Thank you for the information and support. My candidate ended up getting a NOM after all. (The same nomination source that sent the initial denial notice). I appreciate your time
