I am a 4 year AROTC and NROTC scholarship winner and was recently DQ'd for a history of mild brain injury and for Asthma/reactive airway disease/exercise induced bronchospasm after age 13. With my regard to my concussions, I have had 4, but I recovered fully from all of them and was back playing hockey within 30 days. With my "asthma" I was prescribed an inhaler 1 time a couple months after I turned 13 due to an illness, and before that I had not used an inhaler in a few years. I'm putting this out here too see if anyone has any previous experiences like this with getting a waiver and how long i should expect to be waiting on the decision.

Each commissioning program has independent waiver granting authority. One program may request information that another doesn't based upon their interest in pursuing a waiver. The nice thing is that once you provide AMI or complete an outside consultation, that information is shared between the programs so that you're not duplicating test or effort.

Your DoDMERB portal should tell you precisely what Additional Medical Information (AMI) you might be asked to provide for each disqualifying condition.

If DoDMERB asks for an outside consultation, you'll utilize DoDMETS (separate entity altogether) to schedule any appointments.

You'll upload the AMI to your DoDMERB portal once you assemble the document(s) they've asked you provide.
