In the grand scheme of things, this thread is more for fun than anything else. But, I may learn things as will others that may help provide guidance and or perspective for the upcoming application cycle, and those that will follow.

Looking forward to navigating the sixth wing, climbing into an upper twin bunk, not freezing, finding a shared head, and avoiding DS who is on the yard for training and cannot fathom his mom in his dorm (ha, this cracks me up, largest dorm in the world, I won't shell out $150 a night for a room if Mother B is an option).

Turns out, he and I will both be in 'firehose' training for several days and I will be lucky to drag him to the Alley for dinner and a well-made margarita.

Happy to see others post here. This journey is new to me, open to advice/consultations.

The last time I did BGO training, all of us pulled the mattress off the rack and onto the floor at night, rather than climbing into the lofted rack.

The prospect of not freezing in Bancroft triggers all sorts of back in my day reactions. Be prepared for lots of walking and stairs. I think we were on 1-4 or 3-4 my last time.

Well, I packed my yoga socks so hopefully that will keep me from slipping/falling, but honestly, might put the mattress on the floor. I would never live it down if DS found out I fell or rolled out of bed.

Every OG is trying to calculate how it’s July and one can freeze in Bancroft. We just can’t comprehend that could occur in Mother B.
Well, they did say they are providing one thin sheet and thin blanket. Packing pillow and towel. Besides I’m in my 50s and typically have night sweats so I’m sure it will be just fine.
I can’t fathom Mother B without AC. Dad and grandfather survived it. But yuck!

Scratch Marg, with reposada (never plata) and a shoot of what ever was used in the drink on the side, (to be added at your discretion). Gotta order it right so they can make it "right", and u wanna taste the tequila.
..........just say-n

I’m not going to lie. There is a bit of sentimentality kicking in. I know Bancroft has had many iterations and remodels and additions.

I have never served in the military. And didn’t ever have USNA on my radar as a senior in high school.

But it is kind of cool knowing for three nights I will sleep in the same building as an ancestor from 1896, my grandfather from 1939, my 2nd cousin 1966, my dad 1968, and my dad’s brother who left before 2/7. And finally, our 2024 son.

That’s kind of cool. And I will get a glimpse and whiff of plebe summer, something we didn’t experience as ‘24 had Covid I Day and no PPW.

^ When I did my initial BGO training , I was assigned to my First Semester , Plebe Year room... talk about nightmares ! (It was purely coincidental and random assignment -- they usually use the 0 decks for BGO's ..., and 5-0 was open that summer.)

We were on 5-0 for my initial BGO training as well. My first time living in 5th wing and definitely the lowest Bancroft Deck I ever inhabited.

My daughter mentioned in her first call that she's constantly sweating. She didn't think the AC worked very well. Take that with a grain a salt, as the thermostat battles in our house have been epic. Somehow the main breadwinner has the least say about AC/heating bills. ;)

City of Annapolis regulates the AC and heat in Bancroft now. Based on some Farmer’s almanac averages. Thermostat controls are locked. It’s not humid in my four person room but it isn’t chilly.

Met up with a fellow forum contributor- first BGO I found at BWI. @Don't Give Up the Ship and I have had a blast so far.
USNA sent a bus for us with an awesome Marine to gather us up like cattle. Bus driver navigated the airport traffic and DTA in mind boggling fashion with less than inches to spare.

Made new friends, love the alumnus and parent stories, had drinks at the Alley, met my roomie. Plan on seeing DS tomorrow after training for ice cream.

Haven’t heard of major shenanigans yet. But it could happen.

Sixth wing fourth deck. Some of the alumnus had lived here. They hadn’t been back inside Mother B since commissioning. Watching them find the 6-4 wardroom and their rooms was cool.

They sure wanted this place in their rear view when they commissioned, but they are all paying it forward and all smiles today.

Early call tomorrow for coffee and breakfast before class starts.

@Heatherg21, I’ve been looking through the photo albums of BGO training. Instead of Where’s Waldo, “Where’s @Heatherg21.”

I saw a picture of a BGO trainee wearing multiple name tags, several covers and a blue wrist band. Was that you, by any chance? And what does the blue wrist band mean? 🤔😂😉

I heard the blue wrist band means they are fall out of bunk risk or maybe that is how liberty risks are identified now? 😂
