Hello,
I am looking to earn admission to USNA (as well as USAFA and USMMA as secondary options) for c/o 2029 after my Turn Downs this cycle. I am unable to afford attendance at a 4-year university this year, so I am looking into attending a preparatory college as a self-prep.

I have:
3.7UW GPA and a 3.9W GPA
1390 SAT (which I would increase during time at prep)
Good ECs (would also at more during prep time)
Lack of Sports Leadership!!! (Could I do something at a prep school to get some sports leadership?)

Would I use my High School GPA if I attended a junior prep college like MMI or GMC, or would I use the grades I earn while at the prep school?
Is it even worth it to spend the money to attend a prep school as a non-sponsored prep student?
Which school is statistically the best for USNA-chasing free agents?

Thank you!

Caveat - this feedback is just one family's perspective...

I'd tell anyone that easy button here would be Marion Military Institute (MMI). By "easy" I don't mean to suggest that the MMI program is easy. It is not. What I mean is that they have cracked the code on SA appointments with their Service Academy Prep (SAP) program. It is a challenging year, in the middle of nowhere Alabama, and it is a first rate preparatory program. LTC Bowen runs the SAP program and is well versed in all things SA prep. There are many accounts each year of non-sponsored students earning their appointments. Like many other things, you have to do the work and the outcome is not always guaranteed. However, the track record at MMI is pretty strong.

There are many SAP programs. Last year we looked into two. MMI (Marion) and GMC (Georgia Military College). Both were great options for us. It was suggested to DS he go to MMI in his initial (2022) Congressional interview. He did. as @TheNimble1 stated, MMI is a top notch program. The course study is rigorous, I'm sure it's this way at GMC also. I know first hand there are 5 self-preps going USNA from MMI, DS is one of them. Do your diligence, do your research to pick the program for you. In the end, it's up to you, you still have to put in the sweat equity and do the work.
