Army ROTC 2023-2024 3rd Board

Was told today the upgrades will come out late today or tomorrow after all 3rd board results post
Do upgrades only happen for winners from Board 1 and 2, or is it possible for 3 Year winner in Board 3 to be upgraded?

Congratulations! My DS won a 3-Year in the January board. Currently committed to Charleston Southern, a Citadel crosstown, but looks like he's now leaning toward transferring the scholarship directly to The Citadel. So, we may be fellow Knob parents!

Hope to see ya there....from a future Knob mom!

I can't see someone who was just awarded a scholarship in the March board being upgraded, because it has to do with where you are on the Order of Merit List (national ranking). If you are high enough and you just got scored for the first time in the March board, then you'd get a 4-year scholarship right off the bat.

The reason some people from previous boards can be upgraded is because the Army holds a certain portion of the 4-year scholarships back until the March board. So, there is some adjustment made after the final board. Basically, if you are among the "top" 3-year winners, there is a chance you could get the extra year. And there's no way for any of us to know where we sit on the list -- we just all hope/pray for that extra scholarship money! :)

Now, that's not to say you can't get an upgrade through your campus-based program or some other method. But the upgrades specifically allocated through the national scholarship program typically go to those who were given 3-year offers in previous boards.

Hi! Does anyone know if the rotc army 3 year scholarship for American University connected to Georgetown’s battalion offer room and board or stipends?

Congratulations to everyone who earned a scholarship today! That's a very exciting achievement and you deserve to celebrate!

To those who may not have received the news you hoped for, this is not the end. ROTC is still a viable option if you are committed to it -- reach out to your school(s) of choice and see what your options are. It's only over when you give up.

And to those of us still hoping for an upgrade, I'm going assume those were no processed today, as I saw no one reporting any movement there. So, I'll cross my fingers and hope for some positive reports tomorrow. Let's make it a truly great Good Friday!

Hi all! If you receive a 3 year scholarship, could you contact the school to get on campus scholarship to cover tour first year? Also, is room and board or books covered in the scholarship? Congrats to all the winners!

It’s either room and board OR tuition. In our case, tuition was far less, so DD opted to use scholarship for R&B. You will also get a stipend every two weeks and $600 bucks for books every semester. Amount may be different, not sure.

For the first 3 years she was given 5k per semester but it was bumped up to 6k during her senior year. Also, a quick tip, budget accordingly because the money always comes weeks, no, months after the semester starts. Better late than never I suppose.

Sorry I didnt read earlier posts, but how easy is it to transfer scholarships? They gave me a scholarship for my 2nd and 3rd choice, my 3rd choice being more expensive then my first lol. Just dont understand the logic behind that.
It’s a very easy process, as long as the unit isn’t “full” and there’s space. 👌🏼

Yes , I second that comment about room and board money ! It will come a couple of months after a cadet’s room/board bill is due so you have to be prepared to pay out of pocket if needed and wait to be reimbursed !

DS won a 3-year at the university he ED’d to/is going to. His university had said they upgrade 3-years to 4, and match room and board. He is so excited! So happy for him. Red banner still there saying results by 4/4. Congrats to everyone, and if you don’t get it in this round, don’t lose hope because there are campus-based scholarships and other options- just keep trying!
