Army ROTC 2023-2024 3rd Board

Has anyone already gone through the scholarship transfer process with Cadet Command? My son followed the portal instructions, uploaded the required transfer documents and contacted the new school’s (UGA) ROTC. It has been a week and the listed school still hasn’t changed in the Selection Status tab on the portal. Just curious how long it has taken for other transfers in case I should contract Cadet Command directly. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

No but DS may well be submitting a transfer request soon. So, will be following to see how you make out.

Yup. I had a nice chat with Citadel financial aid and in addition to the ROTC incentives for 3-year winners, we are hopeful they will be able to come up with some additional merit or need-based aid for freshman year. But it sounds like they don't really expect to have all the aid packages put together until May. So, more waiting for now...

We will be back on campus next week for an official visit. Although he's already accepted we didn't get the full tour the first time we were there because we were just meeting with the AROTC ROO. Back then DS was thinking Charleston Southern University or College of Charleston. But he now seems all but certain about The Citadel.

Charleston Southern is where his scholarship is currently, but that's part of The Citadel's Palmetto Battalion and the ROO assures us the would be no issue transferring it to The Citadel. CSU has accepted student weekend next weekend, so DS will have one last chance to see both options up close and pwrsonal. Then it's just wait for the financial aid offers and make a decision.
Congratulations and best of luck with your decisions!

I submitted transfer documents on April 1, and officially processed on april 9! I transferred from a public to private school.

Have you made contact with the ROOs at Norwich and VMI? I'd definitely ask them about campus-based scholarships and your chances of securing one as early as second semester of freshman year.
Yes, actually! I was really disappointed about not receiving the federal ROTC scholarship but just recently a former VMI Alumni who apparently lived in my town just contacted me! Apparently, he knows some of the staff on the VMI financial department and is going to personally contact them for me in order to maximize my financial aid opportunities. Alongside this, I also was messaged by a current upperclassmen at VMI, who told me that receiving a 3 year campus scholarship is relatively easy as long as I maintain the required grades and fitness level, especially in the AROTC, which I plan to join. Nothing has been set in stone but I'm hoping for the best! 😁

That's fantastic! Please keep us posted on how you make out. Best of luck to you!

I was finally able to get DS's FAFSA "corrected" yesterday to add schools and it was processed already. I think the schools are already getting the form, because he received a pretty nice aid offer today from VMI. Hoping to get more aid info from The Citadel soon. We are headed down there next week for another visit.

Any other 3-year scholarship winners starting to see movement from financial aid offices? It's definitely coming down to the wire this year.

We've received one aid offer but that was from a private school that requires the CSS profile. We have not received aid orders from the 2 other schools where DS was accepted.

VMI was our first one, Let's hope we all see the rest within the next couple weeks.

We got financial aid offers but all merit. TCU did send a second additional offer but they are a CSS school.

My daughter received a 3-year and accepted (also shows accepted on the portal) it. When should she expect to receive her medical exam information?

Don't worry about the email. Just go to the DODMETS website and try to log in. She should be in the system by now.

There are instructions there for the first time login and then you can get started with scheduling exams and compiling your medical history.

Additional 3AD allocations were just distributed directly to programs Monday, 22 APR.

Check for upgrades from 3AD to 4-year and expect for some non-selects to be contacted with offers directly from schools.

I know this has been asked and answered elsewhere but does anyone recall what the letters mean under the Status column in the Selection Status Winner page? At the bottom where it lists your school and type of award it also has Status. Used to say P which I think was Preliminary? Changed to A?

I think A means you have accepted it....
