Reviving an old thread here: Is your SSMP Commander (at Mass Maritime Academy in this case) a nominating source to the Naval Academy? I’m only finding language that speaks to ROTC. SSMP is not mentioned, so perhaps it is an implied “no”. This is the language from USNA’s website...

Waitlist is better than a TD, so congrats on getting to wait longer. With so many of us. Curious; how does one get so far in the process without nom? I thought they were essential.

Would also be interesting in learning from anyone who is intimate with the key differences between NROTC and SSMP. Mass Maritime offers SSMP, but not NROTC. If the goal is to be at Mass MA for only one year and get into USNA the following, would the differences matter?

Does anyone know of Re-apps from Mass Maritime getting into USNA?

Deposit extensions are a thing this year due to FAFSA debacle. Check with your Plan B’s and use FAFSA as your excuse. My buddy Murphy tells me my DD will get taken off wait list the day after I pay the college deposit.

Applying for commitment/deposit extensions at plan B;’s. WL will only prove to be better than a TD if it results in a wasted deposit.

Interesting way to look at it: a jigsaw puzzle with 1-2 duplicate pieces when, of course, only one piece can be placed in the appropriate spot.
