    Anybody granted a waiver yet?

My son waited until day 130 and then withdrew his application. His letter said it would take 90 days,. That came and went.

Limit to # of Appts to Multiple Candidates from one high school?

I went to USMMA where there were three individuals in the same class from the same high school. Also - West Point has 5 seniors from the same Virginia high school right now.

    Non-Application specific Recommendations

Not at all - I wanted to complement you - not only your writing, but your willingness to support other applicants. Well done.

Bubba - aren't you still in high school?

    Anybody granted a waiver yet?

My take after posting several inquiries and getting very few responses: West Point processes waivers as they accept applicants, but the 90 days is complete nonsense. They will do it in 60 days (such as with SwimDad above) if they want you, or make you wait much longer if you are still in the...

    Anybody granted a waiver yet?

My DS is in the same boat. USMA DQd in August, almost immediately received a letter stating that they were pursuing a waiver and that the process takes 90 days. He is now over 120 days....

Oh my, you are right. Sorry OP - I missed the "summer seminar" part. My advice was for your actual SA application essays. Good catch Sngtlm.

    USAFA Summer Seminar Essay 1

Remember, you are competing with the Nation's best. The question asks about overcoming adversity and challenges - we can only imagine what other applicants have gone through. Imagine the narratives our prior enlisted can write about. Or those with parents who were in combat zones while they...

    Marriage waiver?

You don't need a waiver. USMMA Mids are allowed to be married. P. 36 of the Regs: https://www.usmma.edu/sites/usmma.dot.gov/files/2021-05/SI%202018-07%20%28Midshipman%20Regulations%29.pdf

service obligation time extended for NROTC and USNA grads?

The message that went out last week stated that anyone who serves less than 6 years on active duty will have to serve as a drilling reservist (Selected Reserves, or SELRES) until they hit the 6-year mark. So, if they were active duty for 4 years, they then have to drill for 2 years. Note that...

Current Self Prep at Marion Military Institute- ask any questions!

I'm curious - if you play a sport at a junior college, do you lose a future year of eligibility? In other words, if you play a year of baseball at MMI, can you only play 3 years at an SA if you get in? Obviously not the case if you go to NAPS or the like, but what about the civilian prep...

    USNA vs Ivy Alumni

Are you seriously asking if Harvard and Princeton have strong alumni networks? These Ivy vs. SA threads have jumped the shark. Just run a Google search on where all our US Senators and Congressmen - just as an example - went to college. And it doesn't matter which side of the aisle they are...

    Second Guessing USMMA

You are asking the right questions. It's a big commitment and a life-changing experience. I am not opined to push you in either direction - that is something only you can decide. Yes, a lot don't make it through. But most do - and you can too if you work hard and keep your nose clean. I...

Opportunities and Benefits Exclusive to Naval Academy Midshipmen

Not to muddy the waters, but there have been a few threads lately about federal civilian retirements (which is comical coming from high school seniors - I don't think I trusted anyone over 30 when I was 18, let alone ponder a retirement pension). This will not answer all questions, but: 1. You...

    USNA preliminary application

1350 is not a low SAT score and 1390 is definitely not a low PSAT score. And you can apply on your PSAT score alone. No idea what your chances are - just commenting on the scores.

Moving while waiting for a USMA waiver

If this helps one candidate years from now it is worth the 3 minutes it is going to take me to post: very niche issue that very few will experience, but if you do, it can be frustrating... My DS was DQd but was advised by USMA that they were seeking a waiver. The letter from the RC stated...
