    Candidate number email released 5/30

No, the candidate number is different than their alpha. The alpha is assigned in the PTR, if I remember correctly, for those that have actually accepted their appointment. Only active mids get an alpha. (And even though I DoRed, I still remember mine!).

Kid said there is a rumor that USNA Marine selects may have to sign for 8 years ......

Well, to be fair, COL. Kurtz was a Green Beret. ;)

    SESSION 1 NASS 2024

Tempo runs. In one continuous run, warm up 1 - 2 miles, then, no more then 20 minutes at 1/2 marathon pace (threshold pace - right where your body says "Screw this, I'm not going to hold this pace any longer."), 1 - 2 miles warm down. If you are a typical 8:00/mile runner on a normal day, your...

Kid said there is a rumor that USNA Marine selects may have to sign for 8 years ......

Didn't see what was originally posted, but I know since I didn't actually get to experience SFQC, I'm just a shoulda/coulda/woulda wannabe. I am fully excepting of any and all ribbing. Especially from someone who has walked the walk. Carry on @severn . No offense taken here.

Kid said there is a rumor that USNA Marine selects may have to sign for 8 years ......

The problem we had in our technical field (aircraft mechanic) was that your initial was a 6-year, but with a fairly small crowd of qualified people, ranking up was tough. Getting from E-1 to E-4 was standard fair, but the NCO billets were few and far between, and the windows opened in a very...

What to bring (USNA class of 28)

The curiosity of the anxious versus the reality of those who have been through/witnessed the process. Yin/Yang. Always a dichotomy. ;)

Kid said there is a rumor that USNA Marine selects may have to sign for 8 years ......

I think every enlisted contract is 8 (at least in my time). Whatever your active contract was plus the rest in IR. My enlistment was 6/2 for the Army, then I got released early and had 2/6 for NAPS. I wasn't sure if commissioned stuff was the same.

Kid said there is a rumor that USNA Marine selects may have to sign for 8 years ......

My nephew was a SGT in the Marine Reserve. Wanted to go active, but the recruiter wasn't giving him a lot of positive movement or feedback. He gave it a good try, but got nowhere. So, he DID go and enlist active in the Army. I can first-hand see what you are saying @USMC Crayons .

Kid said there is a rumor that USNA Marine selects may have to sign for 8 years ......

Instead of the mandatory 5 years for most (exceptions being things like pilots/NFOs which do 7), the kid said the rumor is that Marine selects will have to sign for 8 after graduation. Doubt that's true, but wondering if any others have heard this? And, if true, how do you think that will...

Hangout: USNA Induction Day / I-Day Class of 2028: Thursday 27 June 2024

We sent the dude a pre-stamped/addressed envelope with a "survey" type letter where he could just fill in the blanks after the questions. It was a suggestion I saw here (or somewhere) to make things fun and easier for him to respond. Got like, one or two sentences for each question. :P And...

C/O '26 parents - place to commiserate and share. Roller coaster for the next 3 years!

I remind him that if I could teach myself to "really" swim and race 2.4 miles with a thousand others at once, then he can definitely suck it up and get through these requirements. :bleh2:

Doubt my kid would even try to validate! Not the strongest swimmer even though he has made it through 4/C and 3/C drowning classes.

    Spironolactone Medication

There have been other posts asking about various acne medication. Bottom line is stated above ^^. Being diagnosed for and/or taking prescription medication needs to be reported to ensure there are no issues with your appointment. As for taking meds during PS? I do not think that is generally...
