    R-Day vs A-Day

Ladies and Gentlemen, allow me to remind you that SAF rules do NOT allow links to FB, and any other commercial website. Official websites (USMA, USAFA, etc...) are normally acceptable, but commercial links are not. Why? The long story short is that there have been numerous problems with those...

    Pilot Slots

If you mean of the ones I mention, at least those four...there may be a couple more that were selected. How many applied? I don't know.

    4. Host to chug a mug of beer and catch his new rank insignia (which was placed in the mug) in his teeth Heck, that's how we got our class rings at USAFA (at least in my squadron) at our Air Officer Commandings' (AOC) home. For those of legal age, it was a class wine glass filled to the brim...

    West Point graduation

Well, I had an amazing USMA '24 graduation! One of my former JROTC cadets graduated and was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant in the US Army. Her first salute was rendered by a "new" cadet third class (USMA '26), also one of my former JROTC cadets (he was a freshman in our program when she was a...

    Pilot Slots

It's tougher in ROTC "numerically" but they're pumping folks into the pipeline too. At the local U...of the 19 commissioning seniors, four are headed to SUPT; one to EURO/NATO. There may be a couple more, I was only able to view a handful of the assignments.

And then there's that "person" that wears his dad's eagles...they're just a tad different...to see if anyone notices and/or says a thing... You know, the ones that have the beaks facing the arrows?

    Qatar Deployment

Unless things have changed (which they may have) if she's at Al Udeid...the answer is no to both questions. I can't speak for any other location.

CFA timeline - end of July?

When the candidate's portal opens, the "DEADLINE" for submissions is clearly listed. Right now the ones I'm seeing are November 15th. SO...that means that everything the candidate controls is due NLT 15 November. Those things they do NOT control (nominations, DODMERB, and such) are due...

USAF Officer/ Instructor Dies after the ejection seat activated from a T6 Texan while on the ground

I haven't heard of any ACES 5's in the T-6 community; they're still using the LW Martin Baker. The ACES 5 is slated for the T-7 from what I've heard. Still...I really wonder how this happened. The LWMB is a 0-0 seat... Just tragic.😭

AI Pilot in F-16 Dogfight with Human F-16 Pilots

"Real-Time sensor and mission data and probably fairly high bandwidth requirements" Exactly! I can quickly ascertain the SA required but then...to get the information as you describe...I'm trying to wrap my head around the methodology... Eh, I'm an operator...that's for those wizards that...

AI Pilot in F-16 Dogfight with Human F-16 Pilots

The IP in the backseat has full control of the aircraft simply by taking the controls. This is not new; well, it is, but it's been going on for a while. And it's the future of aerial warfare. The USAF can't keep buying these astronomically priced Gen 5 aircraft; Congress won't approve of it...

JKHDelta...I feel your angst/anxiety/some Alma Mater pain... I was all set to go on either my AFROTC scholarship or my NROTC scholarship to dad's University of Florida when I got the call. Long story short, I went to Northwestern Prep (back then it was in MN)... The next year I entered USAFA...

Your Son/Daughter is Going Where?? Round 2

It happens now... SHORT version...thread hijack...but it could apply anywhere. I had a good cadet...freshman and sophomore years. However, I was convinced he did weed. His mom said she'd "find out." So one day, she came home early to find him and friends in the backyard...yep, they were...
