I just wanted to put my story out there as a word of encouragement. On February 23rd I received my QNS letter and I was distraught at loosing my number 1 choice. However, I didn't let that keep me down. I kept emailing and I did anything I could to change my status. Today, after being told no many times, I received my appointment. If you truly want something, don't let anyone keep you away from it. Never give up!

This is awesome. Congratulations! "The squeaky wheel gets the grease"

That's impressive you went from QNS to appointed. I'm currently in a kind of similar situation you were in. I've been proactive with staying in contact with the SAs and showing my desire to attend. I try my best to do so without being annoying.

With that said, with your constant contact with USMA, what were some things you reached out about in order to show your continued interest and desire? Did you reach out to your admissions counselor, if not, who? More generally, what were the things you did that you believe changed your status?

Anyone feel free to reply. Thanks!

Funny, I drilled that line into my Son's head so many times...."squeaky wheel gets the grease", that after awhile, especially if he'd complain about the process, I'd just ask him loudly, "Who gets the Grease" ???
If you don't tell someone you want something, they'll give it to someone else that's been asking. After 2 years of applying and getting declined, he finally figured it out. 3rd time through he got 3 Appointments, and is now finishing Plebe year at WP, quite successfully.
All the Service Academies LOVE determination and perseverance. Dont let a "No" be a failure. Only a learning experience, and an opportunity to become stronger. Keep asking for the "Yes". Make it your mission to force them to say "Yes"!

I have been pounding that message into my kids heads. "You have to advocate for yourself"

This message is good no matter what route you take, its a life message.
