Is it a waste ?? LOL, yes but we could probably fill a whole 'nother thread with things the DOD (and Government in general) do that would be considered a waste !

Right after I wrote that I thought the exact same thing . DOD, waste, fraud, and abuse are all good buddies I'm sure. This type of situation is like most in the Navy. If the person/people who make the decisions where you go (seperation or transfer) like and see your value, then I spot somewhere can be found. If you get someone who is just pushing paper or going through the motions, then separation is likely more likely.

It's not that simple...the government is very much fiscal year driven. If there is not an authorized billet in some capacity at the given time, then Big Navy can't make one up.
