Hello. This is my introduction. I'm having a look at USAFA or USMA and am having a hard time getting to the physical standards each wants, so if you have any "fatso" jokes, I guess you can get them out of the way lol.

I'm from an old family (we've been here since the 1620s) and from what I've been told, our military history includes the revolutionary war (Army), WWII (Air Force), and someone who was a Radm in the Navy. It looks like there is a lot of information on this forum and I hope to be in shape soon!

Welcome.

First, make sure you are eating right.

Second, here is a link that people have given on this site for Stew Smith.

Best of luck. I look forward to updates on progress.

Thank you for the information and for the link A1Janitor! I think what I'll do is in three days do a mock physical and see what I can do at the maximum then make a post. I'm actually big to the point where my knees hurt (and my shoes are okay) from coming down on the ground and so that'll probably mean making the hard choice of not drinking soda or eating a lot of carbohydrate which I like to do now.

Are you in HS, grade?

Some of my students have used a local trainer at a gym to prepare for the CFA and to get into better shape. As noted by @A1Janitor, I also like Stew Smith's guidance. He has lots of good video material online demonstrating different exercises to prepare you for the CFA. Best of luck!

No one should be making fatso jokes when they don't even know you lol. Weight loss & getting in shape can be very tough but if you keep a clean & balanced diet & exercise often you should be on track. If you're early on in HS, go for a sport! It's good for team building, you can get a varsity position, & you can get in shape with something you enjoy. I'd highly recommend wrestling, it's a very good sport to keep your conditioning top-notch & lose weight due to its intensity as well. Good luck!
