Hangout: USNA Induction Day / I-Day Class of 2028: Thursday 27 June 2024

DS was confused about this too. He determined this field is left blank if you are not prior military, as prior military would have DOD information to enter there because they would already have military medical coverage.

I hope he was correct in thinking that as he has already sent that form in. Maybe someone will chime in that knows for sure.
Also appointees that are military dependents already have CAC IDs and Tricare.

I think the status change to AD gets done on I-Day, and DEERS will then show former military dependents now in AD category for CAC and TRICARE. Having that DoDID field number filled in with their info allows them to identify that group easily and take appropriate actions. Prior enlisted would be taken care of on I-Day minus 1, with the rank change.

What information goes into the "DOD" field on the Mini-Registration Form?
#2: Please disregard "Alpha Number" requests within the forms. Your alpha number will be provided closer to I-Day. Additionally, please disregard "DOD/DOD ID" requests within the forms unless you are a military dependent or active duty.

IMPORTANT NOTES:

#1: For any forms where you are seeing the "Please wait...." message, please download and save the form to your computer. When you open the downloaded form from your computer files, it should open up in the Adobe program installed on your computer (not in an Adobe Reader in an internet browser such as Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge). Once the form opens in the Adobe program, there will be a button in the upper right corner that says "Enable All Features." Please click "Enable All Features" in order for the forms to actually load.

#3: If you have issues logging into ABS, please wait seven (7) business days before contacting Mr. Isom.

Anyone else have a Governor drop by to do morning workouts with a USNA plebe class at sunrise Plebe Summer PEP?

This is Governor Wes Moore, Army vet by way of Valley Forge Military Academy and Army early commissioning program, B.A. and Phi Beta Kappa Johns Hopkins University, Rhodes Scholar, Oxford.

I hope he drops by again.

My governor can definitely NOT beat up your governor. He did the Army proud.

(I first learned his story many years ago, through the book "The Other Wes Moore." A very compelling read.)

And he is the first one to say he was messing up in school and being a bad kid on a bad path, which is why his parents sent him to VFMA. As it has done for so many others, the military lifestyle and culture gets people on a path of purpose.

Anyone know if he has been invited up to USMA to work out? Nothing like having a vet drop by to inspire you. Hooahs all day long.

How does wearing retainers work during Plebe Summer? I'm finally getting my braces off but now I am worried that I will not be able to wear my retainers for the time I need

Yeah, this was a great morning! He was in my running group that morning. I have to say in general I actually liked PEP, and I was worried I'd really hate it. The first five or so minutes really sucked, but that's always been true for me with running and I *like* running overall. '28, if you aren't running in the very early morning yet, like 0600 (that's 6 am), DO IT. Wake up, get out of bed immediately, men practice shaving your faces with a crappy razor, then put on your shoes, go for a run, and do your PS prep workout. Doesn't have to be a hard or long run, just move your body while you are still groggy. I started running very early a.m. before PS and I'm really glad I did.

So much of PS is doing things you think you can't, or that you'd never do yourself. It challenges what you believe about yourself and other people. It is only *after* Herndon that I get that "silly" little tradition as a capping event for plebe year. We had to take turns being really uncomfortable for longer than we wanted. The guys on the bottom rotated in and out. You had to be covered in grease and one of my roomies is still washing it out of their hair. People standing on your feet, elbowing you, knees in your face, butts and crotches in your face, friction burns and bruises, pulled hair, but you keep going. And hey all of '28: notice in a lot of the photos how many women were in the stack, with other people standing on them.
