    Declaring Major

    DS has indicated MES as his preferred major but is now leaning more towards Mech Eng. Pretty sure I read somewhere that cadets choose their major at the end of the first year. Is that correct?

    USCGA Mechanical Engineers

    For USCGA ME majors what level of 'hands-on' engineering is part of the program? ie stripping down and rebuilding mechanical engines/systems etc. Trying to get a feel for how biased the program is to theory vs practical engineering.
