Physical Permit to Report “Action Item”

This comes in an email that is sent around the end of May. It should be any time now. It will have your PTR report time and you just print it out. About a week before I-Day you’ll get another email with your alpha number, company, and summer mailing address.

Hangout: USNA Induction Day / I-Day Class of 2028: Thursday 27 June 2024

Yes, this!! My mid has several sports teams he followed closely and my dad and I would make newsletters we would send with all the recent updates, trades, hires- with pics, news, and headlines. We also sent articles on big news stories he’d be interested in. He appreciated the updates and...

Hangout: USNA Induction Day / I-Day Class of 2028: Thursday 27 June 2024

The Hillman Parking Garage in DTA is easy to use and right outside Gate 1. They will be provided all of their correspondence supplies. We did tuck a few SASEs in care packages just to make it easier. Writing home is a part of their schedules at times so you will hear from them at least a...

Q&A from a plebe summer detailer

Agreed. Plebe year there really is not time for video games. Enjoy them while you are on leave for holidays or maybe during free time at a sponsor’s house. USNA is truly a 24/7 experience- particularly plebe year. Your weekdays are scheduled from sunrise to lights out. And weekends are full...

Hangout: USNA Induction Day / I-Day Class of 2028: Thursday 27 June 2024

We enjoyed walking through Gate 1 and across the Yard before reporting. It was a calming start to the day. The parking decks in downtown Annapolis are easy to use with an app to pay. It is a quick walk to Gate 1 (make sure everyone over 16 has Real ID DL, passport, or CAC). Shuttle buses from...

Q&A from a plebe summer detailer

Last year’s plebes were also the first to be issued and required to use camelbacks. This really added to the ease of staying hydrated and the ability to take it with you everywhere- literally. Between those, issued water bottles, and King Hall beverages- they’re on it.

    Clarification on DBIDs card

The DBIDS computer system only allows approvals for 3 years at a time and cannot be changed. You will pick up your paper DBIDS pass at PPW, go to the Pass & ID office in person during plebe year to be fingerprinted for your hard copy card (good for 3 years), and at any time during those 3 years...

Hangout: USNA Induction Day / I-Day Class of 2028: Thursday 27 June 2024

There is no “snail mail” PTR info. Everything is online and should be printed/copied/submitted as indicated. I-Day report times should come in an email this week. Company assignments and alpha numbers come in an email in mid-June right before reporting.

Hangout: USNA Induction Day / I-Day Class of 2028: Thursday 27 June 2024

It’s the same guidelines as previous years. I’m just sharing the practical reality of the past recent years. You only need one airtight container, you don’t have room for multiples. One shoebox is good, then any other packages would just be refills. You will be able to communicate your wishes at...

Hangout: USNA Induction Day / I-Day Class of 2028: Thursday 27 June 2024

No, they are actually encouraged and sold in the MidStore. You just can’t have the caffeinated version during Plebe Summer. Your detailers encourage EmergenC and similar basic OTC immunity boosters. There is so much funk that goes around and some things you miss if sick are one and done. They...

Hangout: USNA Induction Day / I-Day Class of 2028: Thursday 27 June 2024

Great choices. Just mail the clothing- no need to carry it on I-Day. Put the snacks in the care packages, too. Get one priority mail shoebox size (a Target plastic shoebox will fit inside to contain snacks from critters). For the rest use the flat rectangle priority boxes. Some fav snacks are...

What to bring (USNA class of 28)

You only wear white crewneck undershirts under your whiteworks, so the issued will be fine. You wear v-neck white undershirts under all your other uniforms from here on out, my mid likes the Nike fabric.

What to bring (USNA class of 28)

The white issued crew socks are required to be worn during plebe summer. They are comfortable and liked by mids. Your preferred compression shorts, underwear, sports bras is definitely helpful. You are issued some, and laundry is done for you but not on a predictable schedule. You will be wet...

Hangout: USNA Induction Day / I-Day Class of 2028: Thursday 27 June 2024

You are permitted and encouraged to wear your retainers at Plebe Summer. Active orthodontic treatment must be completed before reporting. Bring your retainers with you on I-Day. Once academic year starts, it’s helpful to get one of the UV/ultrasonic cleaners. Great for your retainers and mouth...

Is information gained from Facebook groups found elsewhere?

It depends on how much info you would like in advance, how much you like to plan ahead, and if you are interested in seeing pictures and videos. They also share event schedules, parking/traffic info, VIP guests and special events, etc. The Brigade has mids assigned to their social media pages...

USNA Class of 2028 Waiting and Speculating

And 14 of the 46 with “some college” were appointees or plebes who were injured and needed to rehab, get a DODMERB waiver to receive a second USNA appointment. Not exactly reapplicants. Fun fact… Plebes with serious orthopedic injuries needing lengthy surgery/rehab may be sent home to complete...
