I understand that I will receive the induction haircut but do I shave before hand? As a male is there anything I have to do otherwise?
and thats honestly my one question

Its up to you. As you mentioned, one of the 1st things that happens is a hair cut. Show up in shape and with a good attitude. Charleston is hot and humid in August so you need to be in good physical shape. Good luck!

I would definitely shave for your first introduction to your Company 1st Sergeant at signing in. Length of hair is up to you - it will be gone shortly. There is or will be on the college website, an entire web page of information on Matriculation Day, and what to bring with you. Best of Luck.

I will be at the Citadel this year too. I have a 4-year Army ROTC Scholarship. I understand and have checked out the unofficial list of what to bring for the Corps of Cadets. Will I have to bring other stuff for the Army such as boots? I know a pair is usually provided but I've heard that they aren't the most comfortable and all shoes should be broken in beforehand.

Hi - Congratulations on your acceptance and your scholarship. All you need to know about Day 1, is on the Matriculation Website.
Shoes and boots are one of the most important things to take care of early so you have time to break them in. See in particular:

The full website is at the following address - I would read it over a couple of times:

Best of luck

Hey Hammer, Hope i get to see you there soon- In addition to that list, I have an edited one that the cadet I roomed with on an Overnight Visit, in PB- It has items such as the particular starch, shoe shine, and boots they had bought as well as lesser thought of items like a compact bowls/plates utensils for the occasional meal in the barracks. If you're interested, I can certainly make a functioning pdf with that info on it.

The Citadel Family Association in conjunction with the admission department has a parent portal with content, item lists, etc. There is also a prospective parent Facebook page for accepted students parents in which the CFA shares all school materials in advance too. Hope this can be useful too
