Out of Curiosity, has anybody who's been in NAPS OR USAFAPS applied to a different SA

I can only speak of USCGA on this. Your statement is true only up until the ending of sophomore year. If you DOR after that you are on the hook for the $.

    R-Day Weight Confusion

I have heard stories of cadets being sent home on I day. My DS, football and weightlifter in HS was just over when he went into USCGA. We were terrified. He made it in with no issues football players had a little leeway. Good luck!

    USCGAS Orientation

Tough decision however truly not a huge deal if you are not there. Others might disagree but. We were not there for DS (due to COVID). If like I day for CGA you truly do not see your child alot that day because they are doing indoc paperwork, physicals, getting uniforms. You basically will...

    CGAS appointment notification

If your child has been accepted, they will be hosting several zoom type meetings, that will explain everything and they will gladly answer any questions left unanswered. They hosted a general meeting for all for CGAS and school specific meetings as well.

    AIM 2024 Questions

The award in question given to two outstanding AIM attendees per session is The John and Carol Johnson Aim Honor Graduate Award. Now it is not an LOA however it is as close to an LOA as possible. A CGA applicant still needs to be in consideration for acceptance. My son was a recipient and did...

    CGAS Questions

Do all athletes get sent to NAPS? NO. The sport they are playing will determine where they are sent. Football goes to NAPS. The student athlete can request a school but CG will have the final say. Paygrade for cadets is different, but most of the pay does go for school.

    Ethical dilemma

Have no fear, if this classmate, does make it to the SA I guarantee that they will find the medical issue and DQ them at that time.

Curious-Will there be another medical examination?

    CGA LOA?

Agreed. My DS was football and weightlifting, and for him football was over by decision time. The weightlifting with the possibility of winning states again was definitely on the mind. COVID took care of the season for him so no worries there. Mainly, don't do anything stupid! No...

    CGA LOA?

No a nomination or even acceptance from USMMA is not disqualifying. He will need to choose however, and the date for that will will be in the LOA paperwork. As long as he fulfills all the stipulations associated with the LOA and keeps doing well in and out of school then there should be no...

    CGA LOA?

Your LOA if it comes with stipulations (DODMERB qualified, Final HS Grades, etc) will be explained when you get your letter/email.

Prior enlisted and then in CGA

You might find more information here. https://uscga.edu/admissions/enlisted-personnel/

Prior enlisted and then in CGA

I believe that they are honorably discharged before they enter the academy. For CGAS students at NAPS they were honorably discharged upon NAPS graduation and re-enlisted at the academy.

    Congressional Interview

How are you at just talking with strangers? My sons interview was with two retired naval officers. For the majority of the interview 15 out of 20 minutes they just talked about his experiences with weightlifting and football and their experiences in general. Other than that they asked him 1...
