It can’t hurt! My son had a similar family friend write for him. Who knows what impact it had, but someone who has known you a long time vouching for you should be a good thing.

Also note that cell service is not good at the academy. Have a meeting place set up in case family members get separated, especially at the stadium.

As many people as you like can come. Lots of grandparents will be there. My in-laws came with us last year.

How far away do you live? we are a day and half drive. Our son flew home thanksgiving (maybe Tuesday-Sunday?), several weeks at Christmas, a week at spring break. He will have three weeks off this summer. You can see the schedule for next year online. There have been other 3-day weekends...

My son went in with a full head of gorgeous hair and webguy got a great photo of him from the side. Then the photo of him getting it all shaved off was even more fun to see!

We watched it with our son after he was appointed. We learned a lot, but there is still a lot more to learn. And some things will have changed. But it is definitely good to get an idea what it’s going to be like.

My son received his about a month after his appointment last year.

That must be very frustrating! But I don’t think it will hold up an appointment. My son was not medically cleared when he got his appointment conditional on medical. And others get appointments but still need waivers. I hope he hears soon, and that it’s an appointment!

The kit is interactive - they have to complete it by a deadline. Lots of forms to fill out, things to upload, etc.

Yes, that was our experience last year! And it was stressful even though we drove and stayed with family.

I would also note that sponsor families aren’t necessarily assigned by Doolie day out. Some people take a group of doolies for that day but don’t ultimately serve as sponsor for all of them (or any of them). My son still had no assigned sponsor in October. And you are not allowed to meet up...

They had recognition today. It wasn’t the 2+ day event planned but shortened to today due to the snow.
